Albania has a key mission, not only to maintain peace and security, but also the Euro-Atlantic strategic orientation in the region.
This was confirmed by Defense Minister Niko Peleshi during his official visit to Rome, where he met with his counterpart, Lorenzo Guerini on Tuesday.
In the focus of the discussion of the defense ministers was the cooperation between the two countries in this field, which over the years has been very intense. Minister Peleshi cordially thanked his counterpart Guerini for the unconditional support of Italy for Albania on the road to the European Union. Speaking about the situation in the Western Balkans, Minister Peleshi stressed that, “a negative escalation of the situation threatens the domino effect for the entire region. In this regard, Albania and Albanians have a key mission in the region, not only to maintain peace, security and prosperity, but also to maintain the Euro-Atlantic strategic orientation of the region.”
Albania is committed to promoting the “Open Door Policy” for all countries in the region, he said.
“Kosovo remains a national interest for Albania, which already with the status of a member country in the UN Security Council for the period 2022-2023 will lobby strongly to increase the number of countries that recognize its independence,” said Peleshi .
The ministers agreed on the continuation of bilateral cooperation on the challenges of cyber defense, or even in the field of education or training on which Minister Peleshi said that they open many windows of opportunity for Albanian staff. / Argumentum.al
