Shala River, Albanian Alps and Munella were declared new Natural Park areas as Vjosa River according to a decision of the Albanian government, stated the Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro on Wednesday.
Kumbaro added that this process, after passing through all public institutions but also the municipalities, after the approval of the National Council of the Territory in 2020, was completed with all the relevant clarifications and maps in the last two decisions.”We are ready to make two more decisions that will be further processed. With this review process we not only update what we had, but we have new announcements such as the Vjosa River. So much debate, I mean it is a joint contribution of many actors. Or like the Shala river, the valley,”she said, adding that Albania has two new protected areas at the Natural Park level.
According to her, this gives the opportunity to make a better planning and organization of economic tourism activities that can be developed.
Kumbaro called as good news the announcement of this decision on the Alps of Albania park where there is an organization of some previously fragmented spaces such as Thethi or the river Gashi or Valbona, including them in a wider territory that goes to 20,000 hectares .
“In total from 18% of the territory we had in the papers as protected areas, today we have 21% of the territory and with the other two decisions that are in the process of verification we reach a national asset, and in 2022 we will finish it with the coordinates. Another Natural Park that is declared is the new area, Munella with about 20,760 hectares,” she said. / Argumentum.al
