An appeal was launched by the veteran leader of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha to express solidarity with Ukraine, which is under threat from Russia. Speaking at the plenary session of Parliament on Thursday, Berisha condemned the deliberate silence of the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, after considering him as a mercenary of Belgrade and, besides him, Lulzim Basha, “Rama’s hostage”.
“A sovereign state that is trying to walk the path of democracy is being threatened with invasion! What is this government?! As if it is under Putin’s sphere,” Berisha said adding he was in Parliament to express full solidarity on behalf of the DP, the Albanian Democrats to the Ukrainian nation, the Albanians in Odessa and wherever they are, and to help Ukraine under threat by a Kremlin barbarian. “Albania must do everything to help this country. At least bullets and ammunition can be sent to them, but the “Servant of Belgrade” is not in vain silent and its Hostage of course non-existent – but you gentlemen must raise your voice aa you represent the DP and not Lul Brava, so you have to express solidarity for the Ukrainian nation.”
Berisha said Belgrade could not prevail in Albania. “I have raised it before, the ‘Open Balkans’ is Serbian hegemony and Russian influence,” he said.
“Do you know that the Baltic states are threatened?! Why is it difficult for you to condemn Belgrade and Moscow?!” asked Berisha directly, the Socialist Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla./ Argumentum.al
