The session for reviewing the request of the Parliament for the dismissal of the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, scheduled to be held on Thursday, has been to February 7 in the morning, while the head of state Meta declared that he would read to the public opinion 72 questions put to him by the Commission according to the parliamentary report.
After submitting questions by the parties, the Constitutional Court withdrew to make a decision after the legal presidential representative, Bledar Dervishaj requested time to consult with the Head of State over the answers.
In a statement to the media, the legal representative of the President, Bledar Dervishaj said that the Constitution in its preamble and initial articles mentions the principle of a due process of law.
“And when a regular legal process was not carried out by the Albanian Parliament, we have nothing to do, as it would only produce invalidity of the entire product. And for another reason that all the causes for which fictitiously the Parliament of the previous legislature initiated an investigative and fictitious and political process dictated by order were not those that legitimize the establishment of a commission of that nature, because there was no case to initiate the process of dismissal of the president as defined by the Constitution,” said Dervishaj.
The President of the Court, Vitore Tusha, said that based on the nature of the trial and taking into account the request for 48 hours postponement of the president’s representative, and from the volume of questions this time will be used by the initiator of the trial to be known. “The next hearing is on Monday at 10:00,” she said.
In the meantime the President declared that after being acquainted with the 72 questions of the members of the Constitutional Court he will submit them within 48 hours. In a reaction on Facebook after the second session of the Constitutional Court on Thursday, President Meta thanked his advisers ‘for the excellent work’ as he said ‘they did during the judicial farce initiated by the former monist and unconstitutional Parliament.’
He further stated that the answers will be read to all citizens of the Republic and he announced that he will speak on News 24 TV on Thursday evening.
“After getting acquainted with the 72 questions of the members of the Constitutional Court, we will not only submit 72 answers within 48 hours, but personally as President of the Republic I will read to all citizens of the Republic the answers to every question from the Institution of the President. / Argumentum.al
