The Democratic Party (DP) on Saturday appealed the registration of the ‘House of Freedom’ coalition for the March 6 local by-elections, which officially include the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) and the Christian Democrat Party (CDP) of Albania.
The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi decided on Friday that this coalition be registered, but the Democratic Party Re-establishment Commission was not recognized in this coalition as it is not registered as a party.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on Saturday that the DP has filed a complaint with the KAS requesting the abrogation of Friday’s decision of the State Election Commissioner.
According to the DP representative who filed the appeal, Marash Logu, SMI, CDP and DP Re-establishment Commission were not registered with the CEC as electoral subjects when they applied for a coalition. Also, according to Logu, the DP Re-establishment Commission, apart from not being registered with the CEC as an electoral subject, does not appear to exist as a political party. / Argumentum.al
