The abandonment of the country by the youth is a common challenge in Albania and Italy, said Prime Minister Edi Rama, talking about the cooperation between the universities of the two countries placing the stress on the cooperation in the field of medicine.
“It is an honor for me to be here (Italy) and I experienced the hospitality from the first minute of my arrival here … I want to say that I was very impressed by the conversation I had with the rector, as I could immediately understand the many similarities between Albania and Italy in this field, but in a different period of time,” Rama said on Monday.
According to him, the problems that are now present in universities are also common as the problem of young people leaving. “We will have to understand and manage this problem rationally, without falling into the trap of the policies of the past which have not changed anything in this situation. We must use all means to internationalize our universities.”
In addition Rama said opportunities should be given to youth for them to study in Albania and have available programs and a quality similar to what they have in Italy.
“Cooperation in the field of medicine is a topic that arouses interest not only for us but also for Italy. It is a sector where clearly in Italy there is a need not only to keep students home but also to keep doctors and nurses in places which are not so much attractive.
“In this way we can together increase the number of doctors and nurses who can be put at the service of communities even in the remote areas,” Rama said. / Argumentum.al
