Democratic Party (DP) MPs, members of the parliamentary inquiry commission, visited the Fier incinerator to gather evidence on what they call one of the majority abuses with the tax-payers’ money, which continues.
DP deputy Dhurata Çupi said that the object of the investigative commission was to follow the legal procedures, concession contracts, and how 28 million euros were transferred from the state budget to the concessionaire.
“We have come from the Commission of Inquiry. The media have followed the work of this parliamentary Commission. The Socialist colleagues had planned to pay another visit to the facility in the work plan, and as you can see the facility is not working, it is not functional. It’s so simple. There is no waste to be processed. The deposit is empty,” she told journalists, among whom were TV reporters.
“You shot it because I insisted it be filmed. The waste tank is empty. The contract was signed in 2016 and was supposed to end in 2019. Now we are in 2022 and the facility does not work. Meanwhile, 28 million euros are made available for the concessionaire,” said Cupi.
Further she said the object of the Commission of Inquiry was to follow the legal procedures until the conclusion of the contract with the concessionaire, how the contract was implemented, how 28 million euros were transferred from the state budget to the concessionaire and how the expropriation fund was misused.
“These three elements are clear and it is verified what the opposition has denounced for years and set up the Commission of Inquiry. What opposition speaks directly to the citizens is to denounce what goes wrong, ”said the DP deputy. / Argumentum.al
