The campaign for the by-elections in 6 municipalities of Albania started on Saturday with the heads of political parties introducing their candidates.
On this occasion, President Ilir Meta conveyed a message to Albanians, saying that the vote is the only and true force of the citizen in a democracy.
“The campaign for the by-elections on March 6 in the municipalities of Shkodra, Durres, Lushnja, Dibra, Vora and Rrogozhina, which starts today, is an excellent opportunity for the competing entities and their candidates to submit concrete development and inclusive programs in accordance with the demands and needs of the citizens, “said Meta.
In his message, the head of state encouraged all citizens with the right to vote in the six local units to participate massively in the elections.
“Emphasizing the importance of free, fair and just elections, of a campaign in line with the Electoral Code, laws and the Constitution, fair, transparent, away from the rhetoric, tensions and unacceptable phenomena we have seen in the past, I encourage all eligible citizens, in the six local units, to participate en masse in the elections,” he said.
In Meta’s view the opportunity should not be lost for every citizen to show his strength and will to choose the best candidate who will lead their municipality in the future. / Argumentum.al
