President Ilir Meta decreed on Tuesday the law “On the ratification of the agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on the establishment and operation of a joint police and customs center.”
This agreement is aimed at taking joint measures against cross-border threats by the two authorities in order to strengthen the fight against cross-border crime, organized crime and its links, illegal migration, drug trafficking, violent extremism, radicalism as well as serious crimes.
Meta also decreed the law “On the ratification of the agreement between the Republic of Albania and the Kingdom of Spain, in addition to the European Convention on Extradition of 1957”, which aims to complete the legal framework in the field of mutual cooperation in the criminal field and facilitate extradition procedures of citizens between Albania and the Kingdom of Spain.
It is also to be appreciated the strengthening of ties between the two justice systems and the improvement of the extradition institute regarding the mutual surrender of criminals to the respective authorities of both countries. / Argumentum.al
