Former member of the European Parliament Doris Pack has demanded the recognition of Kosovo by the five countries which have not yet done so. According to Pack, the recognition of Kosovo by Spain, Greece, Slovakia, Romania and Cyprus should be done immediately.
“This war against Ukraine is a wake-up call for a more committed, more effective EU enlargement policy with the countries of the Western Balkans. Dictator Putin is using his influence in some of these countries to weaken the EU,” Pack said in a post on social networks on Tuesday.
According to her, the recognition of Kosovo by the remaining 5 member states Spain, Greece, Slovakia, Romania and Cyprus should be done immediately. Pack demanded the European Union’s commitment to the Western Balkans.
Kosovo has complied with all steps taken by the EU against Russia while Serbia has not although it is a candidate country to join the Union. Brussels has expressed its anger about this stance of Belgrade. / Argumentum.al
