What had been informed by government authorities earlier has happened in Albania: the fuel prices went up with an increase of 45 lek per liter on Saturday.
According to evidence in the market, a liter of oil or gasoline costs 220 to 230 lek per liter.
There is not any reaction from the consumers who are hit hard by this increase and its repercussions will be felt harder in the future because a chain reaction will happen with other goods in the retail market.
But the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) reacted on Saturday saying the hardest hit is agriculture.
“The oil and drug cartels are leading to bankruptcy of agriculture,” said SMI in a statement which launched an appeal to Albanians to unite for dismantling the criminal oligarchs of Rilindje (Renaissance).
Price increases have been warned by Prime Minister Edi Rama who has, however, promised that the electricity prices for households will not go up. /Argumentum.al
