Prime Minister Edi Rama declared on Monday that the Socialist Party (SP) won 5 of the 6 municipalities in the election race without starting the key engines normal and with a gap of votes from rivals even greater than Socialist projections showed. Rama said that “yesterday’s elections gave the Socialist Party neither more nor less than we expected”. Local elections were held in 6 municipalities and the turnout was at the lowest historical level- 30 percent of the eligible voters cast their ballots.
According to the Prime Minister, SP has won Dibra, Durres, Lushnja, Vora and Rrogozhina, with results beyond the most optimistic forecasts. Shkodra was won by the candidate of the House of Freedom led by Sali Berisha, a former veteran Democrat leader. But, the Prime Minister said that, “what is happening in less than two hours by air from Albania makes impossible the legitimate taste of this victory.””In the blink of an eye, the world we lived in has changed again. But unlike the temporary change that the pandemic has imposed on us, this change does not seem to be so temporary. The war is killing and destroying in Ukraine, but it is inserting the clutches of its influence everywhere, in the big and small markets, where daily life is becoming more expensive rapidly under the bombs of insecurity that the war sows everywhere,” said Rama.
“In the blink of an eye, the movies with the themes of the Third World War, the atomic weapons, the desolation of the settlements, have given way to the reality of our lives, where it seems as if there is no more impossible madness and even the end of the world itself can not to be ruled out as one of the possible scenarios,” Rama said. /Argumentum.al
