“Relations between Albania and Spain are friendly and excellent, without any open issues between the two countries. Bilateral political cooperation has increased significantly. Meanwhile, Albania is interested in intensifying parliamentary cooperation as well as economic cooperation with Spain in areas of mutual interest such as tourism, culture, education, justice, etc.”, declared the Speaker, Lindita Nikolla.
Nikolla, who received the new Ambassador of Spain, Varlvaro Renedo Zalba on Wednesday, expressed gratitude for the strong support of Spain for the European integration of Albania and for the holding of the first Intergovernmental Conference as soon as possible. “This support is of great importance in the context of Spain’s support for the integration of the Western Balkans and the rapprochement of the region with the European Union.”
On his part, Ambassador Varlvaro Renedo Zalba thanked the Speaker of Parliament for evaluating the bilateral cooperation and underlined that this cooperation as well as Spain’s support for Albania’s European integration, based on its significant progress towards the implementation of EC recommendations, will grow as an opportunity for the Europeanization of the region and the enrichment of European values.
Speaker Nikolla also reiterated Albania’s request that Spain reconsider its position on the recognition of Kosovo as a contribution to Europeanization, development and stability in the region. /Argumentum.al
