A wave of protests has engulfed Albania with thousands of citizens calling on Prime Minister Edi Rama to intervene to reduce the increased price of oil and other consumption goods of the ‘basket’ across this Balkan country.The protesters blocked Rruga e Kombit in Mirdita on Thursday and the protest of the citizens was joined by the Bishop of Rrëshen, Gjergj Meta.With placards in their hands, the protesters demanded the reduction of prices in a protest in front of the Prime Minister’s office in Tirana for the second day. They urged citizens who have not yet joined to raise their voices.
At the same time the protesters asked PM Edi Rama to appear before them at the government building and speak to them. Rama is quoted as saying that he is ready to listen and be heard, but to be cursed, be accused and be faced with screamings is a waste of time.Protests were held in other cities like Shkodra, Korca, Durres, Vlora etc.Rama held a conversation with citizens on social networks on Thursday unveiling his movements in face of the hit of the skyrocketing prices.Police forces arrested dozens of protesters on Wednesday and Thursday./Argumentum.al
