Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha reminded the head of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha, who conditions his resignation with that of Berisha, not to hide behind strenuous efforts, insisting that the free vote is the only condition for the union of Democrats.
Berisha was in Elbasan, central Albania, where he celebrated Summer Day on Monday, expressing confidence in overcoming the crisis and the resurgence of the Democratic Party (DP).
“There is a strenuous effort, a confrontation between the free vote and the bluff, but to those who do bluff, we will leave the bluff. This will be the spring of the great efforts of democracy and the best message is the unification of the Democrats around free voting. I am defending nothing but free voting. He sees the nationwide protests against the price increase as an awakening of Albanians against what he describes as the heartless policy of the Rama government,” he said.
Further on Berisha wished those hundreds of Albanians who had filled the streets and squares of the country’s cities to protest against a cynical and heartless policy that uses as a pretext the shadows of the war in Ukraine to justify the unjustified dramatic increase of prices in Albania.
In conclusion, the former Prime Minister has proposed the abolition of VAT on oil and electricity, the introduction of a bonus for families in need, and the abolition of turnover tax. /Argumentum.al
