During a meeting with pensioners regarding the latest measures taken by the government, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Monday that even the opposition protests, the wildest protests that a political party can make, we did not treat with disrespect, but this protest is a shame.”
Monday was the sixth day of the consecutive protest organized by civil society against the increase of the fuels price and of other products of the basket demanding the removal of the tax on oil
“This is an incomparable shame of all those who incite it, who are not ashamed of course, because they have made the divorce with shame long time ago, and you know well who they are,” he said.”Who pays for the increased oil buses so much for people coming and protesting for oil?” Who pays them? Do they pay those poor people who make the V symbol? We know very well who they are, and they are unfortunate, but also a shame for those who support this protest, because this is a protest that makes Albania ugly. That shames the Albanians,” Rama added.
Among other things, Rama said that “as long as I am in this position and this is decided either by you, or by me. You decide this yourself if one day I come and tell you that I can no longer be at the height of your faith that I no longer have the necessary energy, you decide to say ‘go home’… This protest, which is the shame of Albania and may continue for another 4 years, until 2025, but they will not be able to remove the oil tax.”
Rama said that the government decided to take over the coverage part of the increased energy price. According to him, in fact, when the bill comes home, that bill comes as it was with 7 lek per kilowatt for the most needy people and 9.5 lek per kilowatt for households and small business. /Argumentum.al
