The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that there is no case of bird flu in Albania.
In a statement released on Wednesday the ministry clarified that after analyses performed in three different dates in over 60 companies, it turns out that there is no viral bird flu disease.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced that the suspected cases were located in 2-3 establishments in a single area, while adding that the National Veterinary Agency is conducting continuous monitoring to verify the reasons for this epizootic situation.
“After analyses performed in three different dates and with over 60 samples, the results obtained from samples sent by the National Agency of Veterinary and Plant Protection to the certified laboratory at the Institute for Food Safety and Veterinary categorically exclude viral bird flu,” said the announcement.
Avian influenza or bird flu refers to the disease caused by infection with avian (bird) influenza (flu) Type A viruses. These viruses naturally spread among wild aquatic birds worldwide and can infect domestic poultry and other bird and animal species. Bird flu viruses do not normally infect humans.
According to the Agriculture Ministry, the National Agency for Veterinary and Plant Protection and the Institute for Food Safety and Veterinary are under constant monitoring and are conducting checks to verify the reasons for this epizootic situation. /Argumentum.al
