About 351 citizens from Ukraine are staying in Albania and they have been given temporary protection according to the full legal framework that this country has for asylum and other facilitation measures are expected to be taken for their entry and stay if necessary.
This was stated by Interior Minister Blendi Cuci in a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Tirana, Volodymyr Shkurov on Wednesday.
He assured the ambassador of Albania’s support for Ukrainian citizens who have come to the country or who may arrive in the future due to the war.
“Currently, 351 citizens from Ukraine are staying in Albania, who have been given temporary protection according to the full legal framework we have for asylum. Other facilitation measures for their entry and stay will be adopted in the future, if necessary, in order to be close to those who leave their country because of the conflict,” the minister declared.
According to him, Albania is a very significant example when it comes to solidarity and the reception of people in need.
“We have witnessed this recently with the Afghans who have taken refuge in our country and we will also coordinate efforts with other EU countries to be close to the people of Ukraine in these difficult times,” he said. /Argumentum.al
