A delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Croatia-Albania, led by Ermina Lekaj Prljaskaj, chairwoman of this Group, had a meeting in Tirana on Wednesday with the Chairwoman of the parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee, Mimi Kodheli during which the projects of establishing a passenger sea line Durrës- Rijeka and the launching of direct flights Tirana-Zagreb were among the projects and opportunities for cooperation in the framework of the strategic partnership between Albania and Croatia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors talked about issues of bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between Albania and Croatia, issues of European integration and enlargement processes, as well as issues of international relevance.
Kodheli praised the excellent political relations between the two countries as well as the support that Croatia has given to Albania’s EU integration process, as well as to the Albanian national issue in general.
Albanian Croatian MP Ermina Lekaj Prljaskaj, after thanking for the cordial reception by the Albanian parliamentary colleagues, stressed Croatia’s will for the continuous and further intensification of relations between the two countries.
In this context, she mentioned a number of projects and cooperation opportunities that can be developed in the framework of strategic partnership such as the establishment of the Durrës-Rijeka passenger line, direct flights Tirana – Zagreb, the finalization of a memorandum of cooperation in the field of justice, sea cleaning projects, university cooperation in the field of medicine, tourism and maritime, etc.
The Croatian parliamentarian expressed the conviction that the excellent friendly relations between the two countries have a great potential to be further strengthened and developed, especially in the field of economy and infrastructure.
The interlocutors further spoke about the situation created by the Russian attack on Ukraine and the importance to be attached to strengthening cooperation, consolidation of democracy and Euro-Atlantic integration processes in the region, as a necessity to prevent this danger and maintain security and stability in the Western Balkans, especially in the current moments. /Argumentum.al
