The chairwoman of the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI), Monika Kryemadhi has indicated that she planned to leave active politics, while the current President, Ilir Meta, her husband, would have taken another second presidential term. She made that revelation in a talk show on a local TV on Saturday.
According to her, the plans were thwarted due to former Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha and the fact that the opposition was not declared the winner in general elections held last year on April 25. Kryemadhi warned that Meta will return to politics and will be more active than ever, influenced by the needs of the country.
“If the opposition were to win In the elections of April 25, Meta would be President again in a second term. Monika Kryemadhi would retire and position herself as the President’s wife,” she said.
“Meta’s engagement in politics will be extraordinary and I will have my positions, I will have my commitment. Politics will be active, not in diplomatic meetings, because I sometimes irritate diplomats. But I will be where I give my best. It will be a long road, which was extended to us by Lulzim Basha. Whether we like it or not, Albanians must trust each other,” she said.
Asked how PM Edi Rama can be defeated Kryemadhi said he can be defeated very easily just standing in front of him and being sold out to him.”Rama knows very well that he no longer has Lulzim Basha in front of him,” the SMI head said. /Argumentum.al
