The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party (SP), Taulant Balla has not denied any possibility of dialogue with the opposition for the election of the new President.
Balla said in a talk show on Saturday that they are ready to discuss with all Parliamentary Groups in order to give the country a different president.
“On Monday we had a discussion in the SP Chairmanship. We are clear that we have the leadership of this process. We will initiate next week to have a Conference of Chairmen by approving a calendar for this process. We are ready to discuss with all Parliamentary Groups in order to give Albania a president different to the one we have, “said Balla.
The presidential mandate of Ilir Meta ends in July this year.
Asked if they had concrete candidates he said: “We are serious about the process. I want a normal president.”
Balla considered unforgivable and unacceptable the return of Democrat veteran leader Sali Berisha to the helm of the Democratic Party. While he spoke with great confidence about a return of President Ilir Meta to politics and his cooperation with Berisha.
It’s confirmed that Meta will retake the post of chairman of the Socialist Movement for Integration.
