Albania and Croatia will further strengthen bilateral military cooperation, mainly through education and training, as well as the greater engagement of the armed forces in NATO-led operations.
This was agreed by the Albanian Defense Minister, Niko Peleshi and his Croatian counterpart Mario Banozic, who paid a visit to Albania on Tuesday.
According to the announcement released by the Ministry of Defense of Albania, the focus of the discussion of the two ministers was the relations between the two countries, their contribution within the Alliance and the situation created worldwide by the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
In his statement, Minister Peleshi underlined the importance of Kosovo’s support in its aspirations for membership in international organizations, contributing to the strengthening of peace and security.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Peleshi stressed that “Russian military occupation of Ukraine is a clear aggression, an illegal and criminal war against a sovereign country. Albania immediately condemned this unprovoked act of aggression, giving a first-hand contribution in the field of diplomacy, but also concrete military assistance “
The Croatian minister expressed his country’s “unsparing support” on the path of Albania’s membership in the European Union. Minister Banozic stressed the importance of NATO, especially in the security challenges facing Europe today. “The current situation shows once again that Euro-Atlantic membership is vital for the countries of our region. I express my strong support for the Republic of Albania in its membership in the European Union as soon as possible,” said the Croatian Minister of Defense. /Argumentum.al
