TIRANA May 29 – The deadline for the opposition to nominate its candidates for the new President expired on Sunday as 16:00 was its deadline to submit its presidential candidacy while the third round was scheduled to take place for the election of the President by the Assembly on Monday at 10:00.
As a matter of fact the Conference of Chairmen had set the date of the third voting for the election of the President on May 30 at 10:00, as well as the deadline for submitting the names of candidates for President on May 29 until 16:00.
In the meantime the Assembly announced on Sunday that on Monday, May 30, it will hold two plenary sessions. At 10:00 a plenary session will be held for the third voting for the election of the President of the Republic. The plenary session will follow at 11:00, which will have on the agenda the issues provided in the calendar of the deliberations of the Assembly.
In this way the way is paved for the Socialist Party to submit its candidate and elect the new president in the fourth round because 71 votes are considered sufficient for the election of the new head of state.
