TIRANA, June 22 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that Albania will participate in the meeting of the EU Council, which will be held on Thursday.
“I just heard that something is moving in Bulgaria today. Too early to be optimistic and too little to change the part of tomorrow’s speech where Bulgaria is criticized as a country that has kidnapped two NATO countries, while there is a torching war on the border of Europe!” Rama wrote on a Twitter post on Wednesday
Rama said that Albania will participate in the EU Council meeting.
“We will not have much to hear, but we will seek to hear about the idea of a New European Political Community that we support, about the Open Balkans that advances the spirit of Europe and about our abduction by Bulgaria that is destroying it, ”noted Rama.
European Union – Western Balkans Summit is scheduled to be held in Brussels on June 23, 2022. The High Level Conference with the Western Balkans will be held one day before the EU Council session, which is expected to decide on the integration of the WB countries.
Albania and North Macedonia await the opening of negotiations, that requires the lifting of the veto by Bulgaria, which has kept deadlocked the opening of accession talks of these two countries with the Union for two years.
The same decision on attending the meeting was made by the leaders of the other two countries, Serbia and North Macedonia. /Argumentum.al
