TIRANA, June 22 – Former Foreign Minister Edmond Panariti, who currently holds the post of advisor to the president, has revealed the next steps that Ilir Meta is expected to take after the end of his presidential term on July 24 this year.
Panariti said on a local TV on Wednesday that Meta had signaled that he would take initiatives that go beyond the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI), a party founded by him when he abandoned the Socialist Party.
“There is no mystery here. He has stated that he will be part of politics. His reintegration remains to be seen. Signals have been given that the goal is something beyond SMI- a merger. That remains to be seen, “Panariti said.
The former FM revealed that Meta has a political project that he will make public in due course.
“It is certain that this political project of uniting the opposition will be part of Mr. Meta’s platform. If I will be active in politics, the level of my commitment remains to be seen,” said Panariti.
