TIRANA, June 24 – Some 72 Albanian citizens of the “Deportiv” category have arrived in Rinas, Tirana’s international airport, over the last two days with 2 charter planes from England and France as part of the operation for the repatriation of Albanian citizens who were in an irregular situation in the territory of those countries, police said in an announcement on Monday.
There were 24 Albanian citizens in the first charter that arrived from England of which 21 Albanian citizens who have completed their sentence in British territory for various criminal offenses committed there and 3 other citizens for staying irregularly in that country. These citizens were released after undergoing interviews and verification procedures, police said.
While the second charter that arrived from France carried 48 Albanian citizens, who were staying illegally on French territory. Some of them have been caught trying to go to England, and others are nationals who have completed their sentence for various criminal offenses committed in France.
Four of the citizens who were returned with the status of “Deportiv” from France have been prosecuted at large for the criminal offense “Illegal crossing of the state border” at the end of the investigation.
Repatriation operations will continue in the coming weeks, said Albanian police.
