TIRANA, August 29 – The Democratic Party (DP) reacted on Monday regarding the choreography used during the “Sunny Hill” festival, where symbols of communism were used, including the national flag with a star.
DP deputy Oerd Bylykbashi demanded criminal punishment for anyone who uses the symbols of communism.
“Last night, in the darkness of the ‘Sunny Hill’ festival, the organizers insulted the Flag and the National Anthem. Yesterday, under the sounds of the anthem ‘Around the United Flag’, the flag of the communist state, with the star above the eagle, appeared as a ‘unifying’ flag. We rejected that hateful flag when the communist state fell,” said Bylykbashi in a post on social media.
According to him, only the organizers are silent, because, beyond any parody of the anthem, carried out under the facade of artistic freedom, apparently the goal was exactly provocation and insult.
“Proposals for administrative fines are not enough. We need a special penalty in the Criminal Code, so that no one dares to insult the society, the nation and its symbols again by using the symbols of communism, the blackest stain of our history,” said deputy Bylykbashi.
