TIRANA, September 15 – The chairman of the opposition Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, has called on the European Commission to impose conditions on Albania for the funds it grants during the discussion of the draft law that requires ratification in the Assembly of the financial partnership agreement with the EC within the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA III).
Deep gratitude goes to the taxpayers of the member countries, said Berisha, who announced that the DP deputies would adopt that agreement. But he called on the European Commission to condition every penny until certain conditions are met.
However, Berisha mentioned as a condition the disbursement of aid with the obligation of Albania to use European standards in public procurement in concessions and in Public Private Partnership. Secret tenders that have increased by 20 times in Albania should be banned, he said.
“So the secret tenders end! Impose the Albanian government to use the EU construction manual, because Albania is the country with the largest costs in public construction plans,” said the head of the Democratic Party. /Argumentum.al
