TIRANA, September 16 – The Freedom Party (FP) deputy, Petrit Vasili has informed that Transparency International has published a news where Albania is among the countries which are suspected to have been financed by Russia.
The news shared by Vasili on Facebook said that Moscow has spent about 300 million dollars to buy influence in other countries since 2014.
The news emerged on Wednesday that the Russian government may have spent around $300 million since 2014 on influencing elections and buying political influence abroad, said Vasili’s post on Friday.
Some of the countries affected include Albania, Montenegro, Madagascar and possibly Ecuador, including a country in Asia whose name has not been made public, Petrit Vasili’s post said.
The information released by FP’s deputy Vasili adds to an extensive discussion on the involvement of former chairman of Democratic Party Lulzim Basha in receiving 500,000 dollars from Russia in 2017.
DP has started an investigation into the case because its head Sali Berisha said he didn’t know about the affair, and accused Basha of cheating on him. /Argumentum.al
