TIRANA, September 17 – In a questions & answers TV talk with journalists and citizens by email PM Edi Rama touched upon many issues raised by Albanians starting with the increase of energy prices, incinerators, Russian financing of the Democratic Party, indexation of pensioners on Saturday.
It’s noteworthy that Rama did not accept any fault of him and his government rejected any criticism while lashing out at the chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha calling him the most evil politician in Albania’s history. He also said new details will be released soon regarding the Sigurimi (communist state security) file of the citizen I. M. implying the chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta.
“There are over 1,090,000 families that consume up to 800 kWh and over 40,000 families that consume over 800 and in the peak period this 40,000 goes up to 60,000,” said Rama regarding the scheme of the increase of the energy price starting in October.
“800 kw plus is set with a purpose, considering that up to 800 all basic needs can be met. We have decided two things that time will tell if they are courage or great ambition that will cost us dearly. We have chosen to protect families and small businesses and not limit electricity,” said Rama.
“This price is not forever, it is from October 1 to December and based on the country’s energy situation, we will review whether we will keep it or move it,” said the PM.
During the online conversation with journalists and citizens, Rama confirmed that the former General Director of the State Police, Gledis Nano, was asked to resign a few weeks ago.
“The previous director, Gledis Nano, has been asked to resign. He has confirmed to me that he would resign on Monday after the conversation was held on Saturday by the minister. We were very concerned about unpleasant developments regarding public order and the police itself of the state. He has confirmed to me that he would resign on Monday after the conversation was held on Saturday at the ministry,” said Rama.
Gledis Nano has said that he had never accepted his resignation, and unlike other top police officers who resigned and were assigned in other lower duties, it is not known what has happened with him. /Argumentum.al
