TIRANA, September 26 – The students of ‘Mehmet Akif’ college, which was closed by the Ministry of Education, marched on Monday from the ministry’s building to the prime minister’s office in Tirana. They reiterated their demands to reopen the school and the kindergarten which were shut down last week.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on Twitter, where he wrote that the protest should be addressed to the owners of the school.
“Students of the closed school should protest against the owners who sold the school building and moved the activity elsewhere, without obtaining permission according to the law and without respecting the rules provided by law! The Ministry of Education and Sports has implemented the law as in other cases,” said Rama.
But the Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, once again expressed his and DP’s support for the protest of the students of the “Mehmet Akif” college.
Berisha said that Edi Rama is acting as a defamed vassal of Turkish President Recep Erdogan. He called on the citizens to support the students’ protest.
He called Rama a born cheater who, in order to implement the blind orders of the president of Turkey, violates every ethical and moral code in his country.
Berisha called on the high school students and citizens of Tirana to join the students of the “Mehmet Akif” college to support their right demands, because this constitutes a flagrant violation of the freedom of education. /Argumentum.al
