TIRANA, September 27 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has said that Turkish President Recep Erdogan has no influence on the decision to close the Turkish school and kindergarten which happened in Tirana last week.
Rama told the media on Tuesday that no one can pressure him. “I’ve said long time ago and I’m telling you again -it’s enough for you to refer to the facts then to the scenario of fairy tales,” he said.
“As we have done with every subject, the Ministry of Education is not the first time to revoke the license of an institution. Neither the Turks nor the Italians chose me, but I can make mistakes,” said Rama on the closure of two educational institutions alleged to be under the influence of Gulen, the adversary of Erdogan whom the latter accuses of a failed coup d’etat.
Touching upon the pending inauguration of the new mosque in Tirana, Rama said: “The government does not inaugurate mosques. they are works in function of cities. The mosque of Tirana is a Turkish donation and it is up to the Turkish Diyanet to decide when the works are finished. It is not up to the government to bring it closer or postpone the inauguration.”
According to him, no one dictates anything on the PM and his government. “We are here for the interests of Albanians alongside anyone and in front of anyone,” said Rama. /Argumentum.al
