TIRANA, October 6 – Socialist veteran deputy Pandeli Majko responded to the head of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha regarding the accusation against patronagists of the Socialist Party (SP).
According to Majko, instead of dealing with SP patronagists, Democrats should deal with the charge of receiving Russian money.
“Whether Albania activates Article 5 or not, is an open discussion. I believe that Berisha also shares the same opinion that Iran’s act is a terrorist act. Berisha was right when he asked the Albanian government to sever diplomatic relations with Iran a long time ago,” said Majko, a former premier in the Assembly’s plenary session on Thursday.
According to him, the opposition is repeating the case of the SP patronagists. “I agree that the opposition has reflections of various natures regarding SP patronagists. Before dealing with the SP patronagists, it is good to deal with the Saint Petersburg patronagists,” said Majko, who added that this is an issue that has deeply worried several parties in EU and NATO member countries.
“What should be treated very seriously is the fact that Albania’s national security has been affected by a party,” said Majko.
But the Socialist deputy did not say if it is a violation of the country’s fundamental law to use the patronage scheme during the parliamentary elections. A few days ago, the US designated persona non grata the Bosnian Prime Minister because of the activation of the patronage scheme in the elections in that Balkan country. /Argumentum.al
