TIRANA, October 10 – Ilir Meta, the chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), received the Serbian ambassador to Tirana, Slobodan Vukčević, at the party’s headquarters on Monday.
According to a post published by him on Facebook along with photos of the meeting, it is learned that Meta has been clear in his attitude towards Serbia on the sensitive issues between the two countries.
“Today I received the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Tirana, Slobodan Vukčević,” said Meta. “I emphasized the commitment of the Freedom Party for institutional and concrete relations of cooperation of mutual interest between Albania and Serbia, as well as within the framework of regional cooperation and European integration.”
Further Meta, a former president, said the Freedom Party in particular supports regional cooperation within the framework of the Berlin Process, considering it as a solid basis for a real integration of the six countries of the region according to the European model among themselves and in the EU.
According to him, the Freedom Party underlined the need to respect the full rights of Albanians in Medvegja, Bujanovc and Preševo, and called on all Albanians living in Serbia to participate in the population census taking place there.
“The Freedom Party supports the dialogue mediated by the European Union between Kosovo and Serbia, the normalization of relations and mutual recognition between the two states. The Freedom Party is convinced that the future of our region is safe and prosperous for all our citizens only as part of the European Union,” Meta stressed. /Argumentum.al
