TIRANA, October 20 – The government has taken measures to save electricity at the current times of the energy crisis as it had warned earlier.
In the normative act submitted to the Assembly, the government has planned that after 22:00 the lighting will be cut off on every main and secondary intercity road, as well as the external lighting of public buildings, cultural facilities, monuments, squares and fountains.
In parallel with this, the air conditioner in state institutions should not be set to a temperature lower than 27 degrees during the summer, while during the winter it should not be higher than 21 degrees in order to reduce the electricity consumption of the buildings.
Also, the document obliges budget customers to reduce electricity consumption by 15%, compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, otherwise they will be fined.
An energy administrator will be appointed in each institution to check the situation and if the target is not reached within 2 months, it will be fined 50,000 ALL.
This normative act will be in force as long as the period of the state of emergency in electricity supply lasts and is not applicable to institutions providing health services, schools, kindergartens, police stations and penitentiaries.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy is the institution charged with the implementation of this normative act, the General Assembly of OSHEE has issued a decision to set up the special structure “Energy Task Force”. /Argumentum.al
