TIRANA, October 28 – The United States of America has expressed disappointment for the non-respect of its request and that of the other QUINT countries made to Kosovo government to postpone the deadline for the decision on license plates.
Such a thing was made known through a written statement by the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Ned Price, saying that they request the further postponement of the decision on license plates, according to lajmi.net on Friday. The United States, along with its international partners, urges the government of Kosovo to extend the period of implementation of the new license plate regime. Kosovo has the right to implement the license plate regime according to the Brussels Agreement, but the extension of the deadline is in the interest of progress in the EU-facilitated dialogue for the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations, Price’s statement said.
The United States is disappointed and concerned that the government of Kosovo has refused the request of its internatioal partners to do so. Kosovo and Serbia must work urgently and flexibly to reach a comprehensive agreement on normalized relations, centered on mutual recognition, the announcement concluded.
The above statement was made after the decision of the Government of Kosovo, which offered April 21 as the last date for the confiscation of KM license plates on Serbian cars. /argumentum.al
