TIRANA, October 30 – As the date for the application of the 800 kWh limit for households approaches the opposition has increased its criticism about the burden of the price rise of energy power consumed over that threshold.
Starting from November 1 the Prime Minister, Edi Rama has announced the beginning of the application of such an increase of the electricity.
In a statement to the media on Sunday, the member of the National Council of the Democratic Party (DP), Lisander Hoxha said that was a criminal act for more than 160,000 households.
“The procedure for increasing the price of electricity is illegal and without consultation with interest groups. Even if the procedure had been followed precisely, the circumstances do not justify its increase,” he said, adding that estimates show that about 3.79 TW/h was produced by the regulated market and KESH.
According to him, OSHEE has sold for the regulated market about 3.01 TW/H (for family, private, budget and non-budget consumers) during the last 8 months. “This means that we produced more energy than the consumers needed.”
The increase in the price of electricity is not a demand that comes from the lack of production and as a result of the war in Ukraine, but stems directly from bad management and systematic theft in this sector, said Hoxha. .
“According to DP experts, at least 161,000 family consumers will be affected by the new price of 44 lek/kw without VAT. This burden is unbearable for Albanians,” said the DP official, who noted that the increase in energy prices means bankruptcy for small businesses and households. /Argumentum.al
