TIRANA, October 31 – Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP) Sali Berisha demanded on Monday the resignation of Edi Rama not only as Prime Minister, but also as chairman of the Socialist Party before the opposition gathers in front of government building in the national-wide protest announced to be held on November 12.
“I am here today to demand the resignation and final removal from any function of Edi Rama, who with his illegal, unconstitutional acts, is today the blackest symbol of the abusive ruler who does not recognize norms, moral, legal or constitutional standards. He has thought of his enrichment, luxury, and power,” said Berisha.
Berisha had promised that when the democrats come to power, they will demand the opening of criminal files for every politician of the old caste who has held the post of prime minister or any other high posts in the last 30 years.
The legal initiative that removes another type of immunity, such as the statute of limitations on criminal prosecution for crimes for the highest state leaders in the last 3 decades is ready.
The legal initiative does not affect the local authorities, but the DP head asked lawyers to correct the initiative before submitting it to the parliament.
In the meantime it is reported deputies Greta Barteli and Lindita Metaliaj officially joined Berisha’s group by leaving Alibeaj and his group, which is made up of a handful of followers of former DP head Lulzim Basha. They were seen to take part in the DP parliamentary group headed by Berisha. /Argumentum.al
