TIRANA, November 3 – The Albanian Task Force has conducted an anti-drug operation in the Port of Durrës, the largest in this Balkan country, on Thursday evening, said police sources.
About 33.5 kg of cocaine was discovered in a container coming from Ecuador. The departure was made in the Port of Ecuador, it stopped in Malta and the final destination was Albania. Given this operation, the Albanian authorities have notified their counterparts in Malta about the drugs found, where a quantity of 6 tons of drugs was found after the controls.
Meanwhile, 84 containers of ‘BanaKing’ are being checked in the Port of Durrës while the truck is also expected to be scanned as there are doubts that there are other cocaine quantities.
Cocaine was detected by the anti-drug dog. The police have started investigations for the full discovery of the case.
According to police announcement, 8 employees of the company who were expecting the load of bananas and employees of the scanner at the Port of Durrës have been arrested. /Argumentum.al
