TIRANA, November 5 – The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti has asked the Serbs in Kosovo not to fall prey to the manipulations of the rulers in Belgrade and not to abandon the institutions of Kosovo.
On Saturday, Serbs decided to leave the country’s institutions as a sign of protest against the Government’s decision to escalate sanctions against those who refuse to convert the illegal number plates issued by Serbia to RKS plates.
Kurti announced in a post on FB on Saturday that 843 reprimands were given from November 1 until now as the first measure foreseen in the Government’s decision. He said that there was no incident or complaint.
According to Kurti, the recent tensions in the north are not about resistance to fines, but about a power struggle in Serbia.
“Representatives of the Serbian List said a week ago that they will organize fierce resistance against the fines. However, they did not wait for November 21: Belgrade started threats and preparations for the destabilization of Kosovo. Therefore, something else is in question. It is clear what it is about. The president of Serbia has lied and disappointed Americans and Europeans; he very often meets and coordinates actions with the Russian ambassador to Belgrade,” said Kurti.
According to him, not being a democratic country, Serbia is becoming a tool of the Kremlin. “Also, it seems that the former spokesman of Milosevic’s party, now the foreign minister of Serbia, is more powerful than the former minister of information of Milosevic, now the president of Serbia. This is their personal power struggle, neither for the citizens nor for the state,” Kurti said.
In the meantime, Kohavizion said on Saturday that the Kosovo Special Unit had left for Mitrovica, northern Kosovo. The authorities have said that it is a matter of regular movements. Such an action was taken after the decision of the Serbs to leave the institutions of Kosovo. /Argumentum.al
