TIRANA, November 6 – The Serb protest in Car Lazar Square in Mitrovica, northern Kosovo, ended peacefully on Sunday. Additional KFOR units were deployed on the Iber river bridge that separates South and North Mitrovica. The protesters held Serbian flags and chanted nationalist songs.
Goran Rakič, chairman of the Serbian List, requested the establishment of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority in his speech
“Yesterday (Saturday) we resigned, today we are returning the mandate to you since you elected us and not Pristina. Enough! Enough with the violation of the Brussels Agreement and of the Serbian people,” said Rakic.
According to him, Serbs should withdraw all unilateral decisions on license plates and implement the Brussels Agreement, creating the Association of Serbian Municipalities.
The Serbian List, which is the largest party of Serb community in Kosovo, announced on Saturday about the resignation of Serbs from the institutions of Kosovo.
Belgrade authorities pledged again on Sunday that they would protect all Serbian people in Kosovo.
The US and the EU continue to press PM Kurti to withdraw the decision on the cancellation of Serbia licence plates in Kosovo. /Argumentum.al
