TIRANA, November 7 – The 800 kWh energy threshold will not be applied this month either. This was announced by PM Edi Rama in the town of Shijak on Monday where he participated in the lottery for the distribution of new houses for families affected by the November 2019 earthquake.
Rama said that citizens will continue to pay for energy the same as before.
“Fortunately, it allows us to protect you, so that you can continue to pay the same energy price that you were paying before the start of the crisis and the war (in Ukraine) and you don’t feel at all that the price is multiplied,” he said.
Rama guaranteed the same for small businesses. “Even for small businesses, we will continue to do this because if we increase the energy for small businesses, all those stores where you go to shop will automatically charge you for what you buy.”
According to him, this is also the reason why Albania today faces the lowest inflation in the region. “The reason why the war inflation in our country is below 10%, while in other countries of the region it is approaching 20%, is precisely because we are protecting the price of families and small businesses and we will continue to do this.”
Rama also rejected the claims of the opposition and part of the media for the increase of fines on businesses.
Focusing on the reconstruction, Rama said that Shijak becomes the first municipality to finalize this process and for this he recognized a special merit to the mayor whom he reconfirmed as a candidate for another mandate.
Albania will hold local power elections on May 14, 2023.
