TIRANA, November 22 – The Democratic Party (DP) has addressed the Court of First Instance of Tirana with a request to establish the invalidity of the election process of the DP chairman, Lulzim Basha on June 13, 2021 and the deregistration of him as the chairman of this political force from the Register of Political Parties.
The request was submitted to the Court of Tirana by Edit Harxhi, a member of the leadership of the DP led by Berisha.
In addition, the DP requests the insurance of the lawsuit through the suspension of the use of data of the DP, the name of the party, the logo, the initial letters, the seal, the name of the chairman, as well as the prohibition of issuing certificates on these data from the Register of Political Parties near the Court of Tirana.
Some Democrat deputies continue to support Basha and they are recognized as a parliamentary group in the Assembly headed by Enkelejd Alibeaj. Besides the activity in the Assembly this group which is still officially registered as the Democratic Party does not carry any other activity with the rank-and-file because no one recognizes it. Rather the membership of the DP is supporting Sali Berisha as chairman and the leadership elected in the party forums in a regular way.
No one knows which is the activity carried out by the former chairman, Basha, but one thing is clear that PM Edi Rama and US Ambassador Yuri Kim want him back at the helm of DP. /Argumentum.al
