TIRANA, November 24 – The Chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta has said that the solution to the situation in Albania can only come from the people. He said that the time of rotation has already passed as it’s a question of changing the system and restoring accountability.
Meta stressed that one of the fundaments of cooperation with the Democratic Party (DP) is the return of accountability. “The Freedom Party strongly believes that the solution will come only from the people of Albania. And that is not all because the solution is not just a rotation. Rotation time has passed. Now it is about changing a system and restoring the system that has gone off the rails,” Meta said on Wednesday.
According to him, such a change is guaranteed by referendum and one of the main bases of cooperation with the Democratic Party will be the guarantee of the exercise of the referendum by the Albanian people.
Meta, former President, pointed out that a people sleeping in democracy wake up in dictatorship. “When we become indifferent, we have opened the way to evil to enter everyone’s house. Now the people in need of the whole world are gathered by them here while they throw Albanians out of their houses using gas. Why this hatred towards the Albanians,” Meta said, adding that accountability and punishment for those who violate the constitution are a must. “You heard what he (Rama) said a few days ago that how happy the Croatians were that Alabar is going to Croatia. And he took out an article published in BIRN in 2019. His lie didn’t last more than three hours. All the decisions became public on how Croatia turned down this project. He said he was because he was in a hurry then,” Meta said.
FP head noted that it’s not a problem for Rama to tell the Albanians let students and Bangladeshis come from abroad. “Why should they come so that you can steal,” Meta asked. /Argumentum.al
