TIRANA, November 27 – A symbolic gathering to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence brought together the two assemblies of Albania and Kosovo in the first great Assembly of Albanians in Tirana on November 27.
Albania proclaimed its independence on November 28, 1912.
The messages of the speakers of the two parliaments, as well as the chairmen of the parliamentary groups of the parties of the two countries converged on the same point: formal borders should not prevent the two countries from continuing to support each other.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti gave the same message. “If we stop trying, if we stop working, we are immediately in danger. So the danger is inaction, not action,” said Kurti in the hall of Albania’s Assembly. Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted some facts on which there has been no public analysis according to his point of view: The tragic fate of most of the signatories of Independence.
It is up to our institutions to place those 40 men without whom the majlis of our history is not known what it would be like where it is necessary in books and in common spaces, said Rama.
Wherever they are in all the Balkan countries where they are majority or minority Albanians are in a very favorable position in international relations, he said. The two Prime Ministers Rama and Kurti also spoke about concrete projects that have been implemented thanks to the agreements signed in the eight joint meetings of the two governments.
But on this big day for both countries, Rama thought that there are two people who are missing from that panorama. “Ibrahim Rugova, a big absentee today, Hashim Thaçi who is separated from us temporarily on an ongoing mission,” said Rama.
When Prime Minister Rama took the floor, the chief democrat, Sali Berisha and the deputies who support him left the hall.
“I left to represent the opposition people. Edi Rama has stabbed Kosovo in the back,” said Berisha.
The socialist majority proposed that the next meeting between the two parliaments be held on June 10 next year to celebrate together the 145th anniversary of the League of Prizren. /Argumentum.al
