TIRANA, December 17 – The head of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta has said that the affair of the incinerators is a matter where the special prosecution authority, SPAK, has been favorable to the government and has not taken any action. Prime Minister Rama is involved in it and that is why he tries to delay and divert the investigations by sacrificing some people who for him are “cannon fodder”.
“Regarding this matter we are dealing with a clear criminal organization, we are not dealing with a person. These are structured criminal actions at the highest level of government,” Meta said in a talk show on News 24 TV on Saturday.
The former president condemned the illegal demolition of the Prestige Resort. According to him, this is the freshest case of non-functioning of justice in Albania, as there was a case in court and the decision of this institution on the demolition of the building was not awaited.
Regarding News24’s investigation into customs, Meta said that justice did not act because it would demoralize an entire corrupt system that steals from Albanians and that has turned corruption into a state goal that benefits only a minority.
“Let’s not forget that the level of income in the country is about 27% in relation to the total product, while in the countries of the region it is about 45%. For us, this is about 2.5 billion euros that are stolen annually from citizens,” he said.
Regarding the issue of the Durrës port project, Meta said that it is an affair that directly implicates the prime minister who is deeply interested in this money laundering mega-project, while he described this project as an adventure that will create many economic and social problems. /Argumentum.al
