TIRANA, December 19 – The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Tirana, Christiane Hohmann, participated on Monday in the activity “Role of the Assembly in the European integration of Albania”, where she called on politics, but also civil society, to join forces with the aim of joining the EU.
In her speech, Ambassador Hohmann said that Albania has taken a big step towards the journey with the opening of accession negotiations.
“I have often emphasized that the negotiations on the EU (membership) are much more than a technical process. This is a phase that requires strong political leadership and mobilization to continue with reforms, which are difficult but necessary to meet the criteria in the EU.” Further, Ambassador Hohmann stated that the issue is how the Assembly can play its role of supervision in terms of the government’s accountability in the management of this process.
Ambassador Hohmann emphasized that “Albania has a great desire for Europe, so I call on the representatives of the Assembly, the government and civil society to come together and work for Albania’s membership in the EU,” said the EU Ambassador. /Argumentum.al
