TIRANA, December 20 – Albania and the Turkish company “Bayraktar” signed on Tuesday the agreement for the purchase of a fleet of unmanned drones, the highest flight technology for military, police and civil missions.
These drones will be in the function of national security, the fight against crime and the illegal cultivation of hashish, civil emergencies, the protection of the territory and the collection of geospatial information, said Prime Minister Edi Rama in his speech at the signing ceremony of the agreement during which he thanked the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Erdogan has been essential in this process because we all know when it comes to unmanned vehicles, drones as they are known today, it’s not just about having money, it’s also about being capable to pass and push in the queue because the queue is very long and on the other hand it is the fact of being on the right side,” said Rama.
According to him, this agreement is not only to buy drones, but also to build a bridge between the Albanian armed forces and the “Bayraktar” Company, which will take care of training people. He said that more than 30 people will be carefully selected through the help of the “Bayraktar” company and will be prepared to take over the operation of the control center, which will be the most high-tech facility at the Kuçova airbase.
Prime Minister Rama said that “we have signed for the complete package, and the first three drones will be ready for any occasion, armed for any occasion.” /Argumentum.al
