TIRANA, January 21 – The US special envoy for the Western Balkans said on Saturday that the international community is asking the Prime Minister of Kosovo to form a community of Serbian municipalities.
The American special envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, estimated that he had constructive talks with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, in Belgrade about the Franco-German proposal for the solution of the Kosovo issue and emphasized that the next meeting of the negotiators in Brussels could to be developed soon.
He told the Voice of America that the international community wants the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to form the Association of Serbian Municipalities (Association or otherwise Zajednica) and emphasized that the formation and negotiations for the Franco-German proposal “are not completely connected”. He said that the ZSO will be formed, with or without the will of Kurti, who has repeatedly said that he will not form it.
But according to Escobar, even though Kurti does not agree to form the Association, Kosovo has already agreed.
In response to the statement that Kurti has repeatedly said that he will not form the ZSO, Escobar said that “a person and a party cannot waive the implementation of legally binding points.”
“We will do it, I will do it, finding partners, there are many people who want to see better relations between the Serbs in the north (of Kosovo) and in the rest of the country,” said Escobar. /Argumentum.al
