TIRANA, January 29 – Deputy of the Democratic Party (DP) Tritan Shehu has made an analysis of the situation between Kosovo and Serbia in a post on Facebook on Sunday where he stated that Russia is interested in keeping the hotbed of the conflict burning in the Western Balkans.
Shehu said that the only way for Serbia to recognize Kosovo is only if it manages to break away from dependence on Russia. “Serbia will “recognize” Kosovo when it ends its dependence on Russia, so we should have no illusions!” said the DP deputy.
Further he said that Russia’s goal is to keep a hotbed of conflict and instability burning in the Western Balkans through Serbia. “It is this dependence that forces Serbia to almost reject EU projects such as the “Berlin Process” and seek to divert them towards Vucic’s “open Balkans”.”
But Shehu, a former foreign minister, is of the opinion that the real interest of Serbia is to get out of this blocking spiral as soon as possible, where Russia is and keeps it. Therefore, according to him, the “Franco-German Plan” does not aim at everything as it does not seek to push it to the final point – mutual recognition.
While the issue of “association”, which apparently is not part of this plan, is in fact a “hot potato”, which was left to Kosovo by the previous governments, without wanting to judge the reasons for its acceptance at the time, said Shehu.
However, DP lawmaker stressed that even today it cannot be implemented except by the government of Kosovo, and absolutely under no circumstances without it. /Argumentum.al
